The Hummingbird Card

This trick goes by various names, such as 'Hummer Card', or 'Hummer's whirling card'.

The Trick

This trick is where the card lifts up and flies around the magician, spinning and flipping around as it does so. With practice you can gain a lot of control over the card and it has an excellent effect.

How

The magician uses a piece of string which is almost invisible, which is attached to the performer behind the ear, and is attached to the card using a small glob of a waxy substance. Through carefully manipulating the string you can control the movements.
